The Texas power crisis of 2021 is an event that will leave an indelible mark in my mind. All told, we lost power for 52 hours.

Initially, we lost power at about 8:30 am on Monday, February 15.

At the time, we were reasonably calm, naively assuming the power would be restored in a couple of hours.

Alas, we were soon to discover that the so-called rolling blackouts were anything but rolling.

As-luck-would-have-it, we had just dropped our kids off at college, so it was just my husband and me who had to endure the nightmare that was to follow.

Day One

The day started reasonably well. I was able to prepare hot tea and buttermilk pancakes for breakfast since we have a gas stove.

I had brewed coffee earlier in the day (before we lost power), so I was happy on that front, if nothing else.
